Bingo in Oklahoma

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

Oklahoma has for a long time been analogous with Bingo. That’s because the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for ages. Patrons from many of the nearby states get in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a benchmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the betting restrictions, and today control 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. Electronic games like slot machine games were not approved, owing to the fact that they’re believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to permit enormous American Indian betting gambling dens. You will now find Amerindian casinos with one armed bandits, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the American Indian gambling dens as of yet, although this is only a waiting game. Nobody can authority whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
