Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for ages. Clients from every one of the neighboring states pile in autos and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a landmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Native bands of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the gambling rules, and today operate ten casinos of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling halls were built on. Electronic games such as slot machine games weren’t allowed, since they are thought to lead to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma rules has altered to allow for big American Indian betting gambling dens. You will now see Amerindian gambling dens with slot machine games, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Amerindian casinos yet, but that is only a matter of time. No one can determine whether having other games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
