Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That’s owing to the fact that the Native bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for many years. Patrons from many of the surrounding states pile in autos and travel to Oklahoma to play Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Native tribes of Oklahoma have introduced gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering laws, and today operate ten gambling halls of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling halls were built on. automated games like slot machines weren’t approved, on the grounds that they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules have altered to permit enormous Native betting gambling halls. You’ll now see Amerindian gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the Amerindian gambling halls yet, although that is only a matter of time. No one can determine what having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
