Oklahoma Bingo

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for decades. Patrons from each of the neighboring states pile in trucks and travel to Oklahoma to play Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that time, 23 of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have established gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the betting laws, and today control 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. Electronic games like slot machines weren’t allowed, because they’re believed to lead to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma rules has changed to allow for big Amerindian wagering casinos. You’ll now discover American Indian gambling dens with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not authorized in the Native gambling dens yet, however this is simply a waiting game. Nobody can say with what having other games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
